What we do
Established in 1988, the University of Washington Foundation is a non-profit, public 501(c)(3) organization that advances the mission of the University of Washington by soliciting and otherwise facilitating private contributions to or for the benefit of giving to University of Washington students, faculty, programs and/or facilities; gifts are applied to the UW fund or allocated as designated by the donors.
Purpose
The UW Foundation Board partners with University Advancement to develop and strengthen the relationships and resources that fuel the University of Washington’s impact.
Mission
University of Washington Foundation Directors are committed to increasing the level of private giving to the UW, and to enhancing understanding among the UW’s alumni and other friends of the need for private giving to support excellence in programs throughout the University of Washington.
Where innovation meets impact
We look forward to welcoming you to the spring meeting of the UW Foundation Board of Directors on Thursday, April 30, 2026. This gathering highlights the University’s evolving strategic vision and the momentum shaped by your insights. President Robert J. Jones will share how feedback from last fall is informing the next chapter of the UW story, followed by an engaging table exercise that moves from vision to action. We will then close with a Deep Dive on Where Innovation Meets Impact: UW’s Leadership in Health, featuring Brotman Baty Institute Professors Lea Starita and Sud Pinglay and postdoc Shawn Fayer for an inside look at precision medicine and the philanthropic partnerships accelerating discoveries that define the future of personalized care.
Welcome Center
Opening in 2028, the Ana Mari Cauce Welcome Center will serve as a place to celebrate the University’s history, global impact and shared future.

UW Impact
